The Vanti way

We believe successful projects are built on a foundation of collaboration, expertise, and a deep understanding of the needs of different building users. We invest the time to understand your goals before advising on the best course of action, taking into account the constraints of budgets, contracts and timelines.

Whether you’re in the planning phase of a new construction or fit-out project, looking for a Master Systems Integrator (MSI) or technology delivery partner to support a build that’s already under way, or upgrading an existing space, we will work with you to turn your vision into reality.

Our expertise ranges from building UX (user experience) design, immersive audio-visual, and real-time analytics to internet and network provisioning, Building Operating System deployment, and control room optimisation. Having identified the best technology for your needs, we combine disparate systems into an integrated solution that can continue to evolve over the lifetime of your building.

Design

If your building is in the planning stages, we will work closely with you to identify your unique needs, challenges, constraints and aspirations. Thinking about technology before construction begins may sound alien, but engaging us earlier in the process makes for a more efficient rollout and much faster payback.

Where the space already exists, we conduct in-depth consultations and site assessments to ensure we have a comprehensive overview of its intended use, and how technology can enhance it. If it’s yet to be built, we’ll thoroughly analyse spatial plans and design consultant reports to ensure we’re up to speed before coordinating technology across all building service disciplines.

Our solution architects then craft designs that are both functional on day one, and ready to adapt to change in the future. We create system designs, schematics, detailed plans, and bespoke user interfaces, all while considering solution scalability, usability, and sustainability. By focusing on the user experience first, and then aligning technology with it, we lay the groundwork for a project that exceeds expectations.

Build

Once the design is finalised, we typically novate directly into the supply chain, working as a Tier 1 contractor to Main and Fit-out Contractors. This is where we bring the vision to life.

Our project managers, engineers, infrastructure experts and software developers work collaboratively to coordinate every aspect of the physical installation, equipment commissioning and code, ensuring meticulous attention to detail to create a coherent solution.

During this phase, we emphasise quality control and robust testing, verifying that every system functions as intended and that all failure scenarios have been considered. We remain flexible and transparent throughout the build programme, keeping stakeholders informed of progress, collaborating with supply chain peers, and addressing any changes or challenges that arise.

Our aim is to deliver a smooth, hassle-free build experience that results in a fully integrated, high-performing environment.

Operate

Our commitment to a project doesn’t end when the build is complete. We provide comprehensive training for building operators, tenant facilities managers and other stakeholders as required, equipping them with the knowledge to use and manage your building technology effectively.

We also offer ongoing support and maintenance services – including remote monitoring to maintain optimum performance, troubleshooting of any issues that arise, and patching to keep your systems secure.

We work closely with space operators to deliver data and insights into the performance of systems within, as well as about the space itself. This proactive approach helps to maximise your return on investment, allowing you to continue innovating on the experience for users of the space with confidence.

Finally, we know that the use of a building and the individual spaces within it will evolve over time. For that reason, we select technology with flexibility and evolution in mind, avoiding vendor lock-in and designing a solution that allows components to be added or upgraded with minimal effort.

The RIBA Plan
of Work

We might be technologists, but we've spent a long time working in and understanding the industries we serve. The Vanti approach to building technology architecture complements well-established industry processes and norms, reducing risk and cost as well as allowing for natural evolution and scaling of solutions long through construction and fit-out programmes, well into operation. The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) produces a number of overlays to their Plan of Work as professional guidance to the industry on key focus areas.

True to our commitment of sharing our knowledge to better the entire industry, we've worked alongside property developers, technology consultants, product vendors and integrators to contribute to the Smart Building Overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work. The overlay is aimed at all built environment professionals, clients and end users, looking for guidance on how to incorporate smart building technology in any building typology within the framework.

Our manifesto

  1. We acknowledge the breadth of personas that exist within all building ecosystems – portfolio owners, property developers, tenants, employees, visitors, building operators and facilities managers.
  2. We define requirements first, gaining an understanding of what people need to achieve and their jobs to be done before making choices on technologies and systems.
  3. We prioritise achieving exceptional user experiences for all personas over single vendor convenience through thoughtful design, procurement, construction and building operation.
  4. We use best of breed technologies, selecting products and systems with the ability to be part of and integrate into a wider ecosystem using open protocols.
  5. We acknowledge that the use of any building as well as floors and spaces within it will change in use over time. Technology and systems should facilitate changes and on-going optimisation, being as inexpensive as possible in achieving these goals.
  6. We don’t lock people into vendor relationships and expect any vendors engaged to provide consumption-based pricing, no long-term contracts, and complete data portability.
  7. Whilst the use of cloud technologies may feature in the overall technology architecture, all data and systems control will primarily occur in and ultimately be owned by the physical building to ensure continued operation during any connectivity interruption or cloud service outage.
  8. Data and people’s privacy are treated with respect, particularly where information is personally identifiable. ‘Opt-in’ rather than ‘default-in’ is our recommended method of engaging people. All data is fully encrypted both at rest and in transit as far as is practically possible.
  9. We perform failure mode analysis at all levels – devices, area/field, supervisory control, overall systems architecture and user interfaces, ensuring this is documented and gracefully handled where possible.
