Rebel Makers moves to Vanti HQ

Anyone who knows Vanti knows how much we love supporting innovative tech work and our local community, so when an opportunity recently came up to host the amazing Rebel Makers in our new office, there was no way we were going to say no.

For those of you unfamiliar with Rebel Makers, it’s a peer-to-peer digital making club open to all ages and abilities. Launched by Birmingham-based Rebel Labs in 2015, Rebel Makers allows anyone with an interest in technology to learn new skills and explore possibilities. There are now five clubs around the country, where monthly sessions allow techies to work on projects that range from electronics and programmable hardware, through to writing code, design, and media production.

“We are so pleased that Vanti have offered to host Rebel Makers,” says Julia Higginbottom, one of the founders of Rebel Labs.”Their new offices will provide a fantastic space for our Rebels, and we’re really confident that the Birmingham club will flourish in its new home. We hope this move allows us to encourage even more people to develop their skills in a supportive community, and have fun doing it!”

The core values of Rebel Makers – creating a safe, free, collaborative environment where anyone can learn – are really in line with our own Vanti culture. We love how the clubs support techies of all ages; you’ll frequently see children working on amazing projects alongside adults several decades their senior.

“We’re super excited to host Rebel Makers at our new HQ,” says Vanti CEO Mike Brooman, who has been involved with the Birmingham club for a couple of years. “Rebel Labs have done an exceptional job getting five clubs up and running in only 12 months. Just like them, we’re huge believers in accessible, lifelong learning for everyone so when the Birmingham club needed a new home, we wanted to do our bit. Make sure you come along and join in the fun!”

The first Rebel Makers at Vanti HQ will take place on Saturday 11th November. If you’re interested in coming along, just visit their website to register. You can also check out their FAQs if you have any questions at all, or get in touch with the team to find out more.

We hope to see you on the 11th!
