Design Engineer Aimee Salt helped a group of school children understand the work Vanti is doing to increase sustainability within the built environment and got them thinking about how their own experiences can shape the future of our planet as part of a summer school workshop.
Aimee joined workshop providers Learn By Design to give insight on the importance of sustainability to a group of 11 year 9 students at the Landau Forte Academy QEMS.
After providing a presentation about the work Vanti does, some of our current projects and how they relate to being kinder to the environment, Aimee received several questions from the children before they split off to complete a number of sustainability related tasks.
This included making their own electric vehicles complete with energy efficient motors before measuring how far they could travel, a task which is closely related to our ongoing project with Petalite where we are researching and developing new methods to achieve vertical take-off and landing for electric flying vehicles in high-density urban areas by creating a more efficient charging process.
The students also took part in a second activity which made pupils think of a product which would make their school kinder to the planet 50 years from now.
At Vanti, we are constantly helping our clients understand the impact their buildings have on the environment, and advising them on how to make them greener. We also understand that we have a role to continue to educate people about the ongoing effects of global warming and climate change so we can all contribute to creating a healthier planet.
It was brilliant to see the students engaging with our presentation on sustainability and getting stuck into the tasks, and we’re proud that Aimee played a role in helping them understand more about what we do and how we can help the environment together.
